Helene loves books and she loves stories. Sometimes she'll pick a book off the shelf by random and still expect a certain story. For some reason, small people like small things. When I was little, I loved playing with my dad's copy of Chairman Mao's little red book. The same goes for Helene. She loves it. Especially the bit about Belling the Cat.

VideobloggingWeek2006 - Day 7 (a doll's house)

WOW I made it!! Bit late yesterday, so two videos (technically) today... This was shot wholly on my new Sony Ericsson W800i Mobile, which is supercool and really funky - it has a 2 mega pixel camera and video function, both of which synct automatically to my Mac, opens as a hard drive on my desktop and *knows* that I'll want to move photos off it and onto my iPhoto library. Superb. === so, for my last VBW video, here is a trip to the farm! Music by Emmet Ray - I'll see you in my dreams.

VideobloggingWeek2006 - Day 1 (a doll's house)

So... it's VideobloggingWeek2006 and the challenge's been set: 7 days 7 videos The tagline is "dangerous vlogging" which for me would probably mean videoblogging (i.e recording) outside in the public sphere. Although I am perfectly happy to put my videos online for *anyone* to see, I find it really weird and embarrassing to actually film myself outside, where people can see me. Filming Helene is one thing, but turning the camera on myself... Remember my Apple store post and you see what I mean... However, I've not been out yet today, but this morning we caught Helene reading her book to her bear, which looked so cute, I had to film it (it helped she'd put the teddy in her potty!). She was reading Goldilocks and the Three Bears (in norwegian of course) and I was particularly impressed with her voices for the daddy, mummy and baby bear... and her conclusive "The End"... videobloggingweek2006

Further to my dad's gorgeous snow video, here's one I took earlier. As you can see Brighton is a bit sunnier, and warmer, and today we had lunch in the sun outside the city library. SnakkeMail 4 - Oslo covered in Snow

This is from my dad, who is a bit of a wannabe videoblogger, and it's shot outside his house (my old home) in Oslo (you might recognise it from my visiting oslo video just before Christmas!) The video is gorgeous, capturing the insanity of driving in Oslo in winter. Or rather, it describes the *impossibility* of driving in Oslo in winter. Not because of the snow, per se, but because the minute you've spent HOURS digging your car out, some cheeky bastard will come along and steal *your* spot!! Hence, most people leave their cars at home and use public transport instead. Maybe that's not such a bad thing...? Anyway, I won't add subtitles as I feel it spoils the immediacy of the clip, but for those interested, the narrative is pretty much explained above. Inspired by "all things Videoblog", and a reply to a message on the Videoblogging yahoogroup by Jay Dedman (thanks Jay!), I am starting to post little video messages to my mother (and mayby others?) on, SnakkeMail (Talk-Mail in Norwegian). This all started as me playing around with sending my mother little videomessages instead of emails, using my phone as camera and just sending them straight off. Jay suggested putting them up on a blog as a way of archiving them, and I like the possibilities for this in terms of creating a narrative over time. My only warning is they're short, boring and in Norwegian, and mainly for my mum, but feel free to have a look...
